Health Department Data Portal Tracks CSD-Associated COVID-19 Cases

As the chilly fall weather blows into the Wasatch Front — and the yearly cold and flu season begins to heat up — Canyons District families are encouraged to redouble their efforts, especially in this era of COVID-19, to do daily health checks before bundling up and heading out the door for school.

“Unfortunately, we have had several children with fever, cough, or other COVID symptoms attend school and expose their classmates and school personnel to illness,” said Dr. Dagmar Vitek, Medical Director of the Salt Lake County Health Department, in a statement announcing the availability of new school-level data on the county’s COVID-19 dashboard. “Anyone with COVID symptoms needs to isolate at home for 10 days from when symptoms began or 24 hours after their fever ends, whichever is longer.”

Parent Update Week of September 7-11, 2020

Update for this coming week September 7-11, 2020:

  • NO SCHOOL in-person and online – on Monday Sept. 7 for Labor Day.
  • Wed. Sept 9 – Mobile Food Pantry at EME at 2:45 pm.  One bag of food per family.  Please return the blue pantry flyer that went home with students in Thursday folders.  If your child rides the bus and you would like your student to get food pantry, please send the blue pantry flyer back to school or contact Mrs. McCall or front office.
  • Fri. Sept 11 – Immunization Clinic 1:00-2:30 pm.  Please plan to bring your student if they are in need of immunizations.  This is a no-fee clinic. 
  • Fri. Sept. 11 – PTA virtual meeting.  Please email if you would like to attend.  You will receive a link to the Zoom call.
  • Student Drop Off/Pick up Reminder  
    • Parents – please walk with your student in the crosswalk.
    • Please load/unload students into vehicles on sidewalk side of vehicle to keep them most safe!
  • Please plan to attend Parent Teacher Conferences on September 23 or 24.  More scheduling details to follow. 

Canyons Schools to Provide Free Breakfast, Lunch to all Students

School breakfast and lunch are now available at no charge to all Canyons District students under a temporary waiver from the USDA.

The free meal service will start after the Labor Day holiday on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and continue through December 2020 or until the federal funding runs out. All students are eligible, whether they are learning in the classroom, online or at home.
