PARENT NIGHT FOR MULTILINGUAL FAMILIES – Monday January 23 from 6-8:30 pm at Jordan High School. This program is meant for multilingual families with 6-12th graders to assist in learning how to benefit from college and career opportunities. See attached flyer for details.
5TH GRADE MIDDLE SCHOOL ORIENTATION – On Tuesday January 31st, 5th grade students will take the bus to/from Midvale Middle School from 9:00-11:00 am. There will be a parent / student orientation at Midvale Middle at 5:30 pm Jan. 31 and for students who will attend Union Middle School, the parent orientation will be February 1st at 6:00 pm.
NBA ALL-STAR 2023 – All students will be receiving bookmarks this week with a QR code for an All Star Winter Reading Program and community engagement opportunities around the NBA All Star Game in February 2023. Be sure to check that out!
LIVING TRADITIONS WEEK this year is focused on Asia. With this in mind, we recognize the beginning of the Lunar New Year in many Asian countries. The Chinese Lunar New Year is a two week celebration starting on the first new moon of the calendar year January 22 and ending on the full moon February 5. 2023 is the year of the Rabbit and in Chinese culture the rabbit represents peace, prosperity and longevity. The Lantern festival comes at the end of the new year festivities and it celebrates family gatherings and society. Here at East Midvale, our Living Traditions night falls during the lantern festival and families can make lanterns that will fill our halls and represent our school family!
LIVING TRADITIONS FAMILY NIGHT – Families are invited on Thursday February 2 from 5:30-7:00 pm to see and learn about countries in Asia. There will be grade level displays on Thailand, Afghanistan, Maldives, Kuwait, Nepal and Japan. There will also be food, an art walk, a fun activity and entertainment.
5TH GRADE SCIENCE FAIR – Science Fair projects will be displayed during Living Traditions Night February 2 for all to see.
