Parent Update Week of Feb. 3-7, 2025

CONGRATULATIONS to our Students of the Month for Self Management, our Teacher of the Month Ms. Gerrard who teachers 4th grade and our Staff of the Month Ms. Leonard who is our Literacy and Achievement Coach.  Students were surprised by our special guests Sonic (Mrs. Powell) and Eggman (Mr. Nelson).  The students earned this visit by reaching 200,000 Dojo points schoolwide for positive behaviors.  

DUE TODAY SUNDAY – EME TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS!  Here is your opportunity to celebrate your child’s teacher for the work they do in the classroom, for the time they take with your child to teach and nurture and for the time they take to work with your family to build a strong learning plan.  Nominate that teacher using this form:  2025 TOTY Nomination.  Submit by 5:00 pm today Sunday February 2.

UFB FREE GROCERIES:  Distribution to students will be on Tuesday February 4, 2025 at the end of the school day.  If possible, please plan to pick up your student or meet them at the bus stop to carry the 20 pounds of food given.  

LIVING TRADITIONS WEEK – Next week is our annual living traditions celebration.  Our focus region this year is Europe and students will be exploring France, Ireland, Iceland, Albania, Greece and Switzerland.  

LIVING TRADITIONS FAMILY NIGHT – Thursday February 6, 5:30 to 7:00 pm.  Families are invited to come to the school.

  • Enter through the front doors and get an EME Passport to Europe!

  • Use the QR code on the passport to sign in to the event.

  • Answer the questions in the passport by visiting each of the countries.  Bonus:  Sample food from that country at each display..

    • France (Kindergarten) in red hall 

    • Ireland (1st grade) and Greece (4th grade) in purple hall

    • Switzerland (5th grade) by green hall 

    • Albania (3rd grade) and Iceland (2nd grade) in orange hall.

    • Scotland (Extended Learning Program) in the cafeteria.

  • Admire the artwork in the cafeteria and gym.

  • Attend either the 6:00 pm or the 6:45 pm performance of the Wasatch Alphorn group in the gym (15 minute show).  Alphorns are long thin horns  used in the Alp mountains by shepherds to call to each other and to their flocks of cows or sheep.

  • Wednesday February 26 from 4:00-8:00 pm

  • Thursday February 27 – Early dismissal at 1:10 pm

  • Feb. 24 and Feb. 26 – Scholastic Book Fair in library 

OPENINGS IN THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM!  The extended learning program has several additional spots to fill.  

  • Attendance is everyday Monday-Thursday from 3:00-4:55 pm and Friday: 1:10-4:55pm.  Students receive a snack and dinner.

  • Bus transportation is provided if a student already rides a bus to/from school.

  • Fill out an interest form in the front office and school will notify parent whether the student has been accepted and when they will begin.
