THANK YOU to all the families who attended the Back to School Open House! It was well attended and great to see all the excitement. Teachers would like to thank the PTA board – Maryann Whiting, Chantel Conti, Aimara Machin Obregon and Heather Erickson- for the wonderful meal provided that day. Thank you to Ruth Vine Tyler Library and Copperview Recreation Center for bringing information about their resources to our community!
MON. AUG. 19 – RED CARPET AND FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
- All students and accompanying family are invited to the west side of the school upon arrival Monday morning. Students look for their grade level sign, find their new teacher and get in line. Families can line the red carpet to cheer.
- Please have your student lined up by 8:10 am. Mr. Nelson will begin calling classes to walk the Carpet at approximately 8:15 am. Third grade classes will be called first, then Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and finally our oldest students 5th grade!
- After students arrive in class they will walk with their teachers to get breakfast and learn new procedures.
- After the first day, all students enter the building in the morning through the north cafeteria doors where breakfast is available to pick up.
- Kindergarten Aug. 19-Aug. 22 is half day 8:10-10:55 am. Students riding the bus to school will be bused home. All others need to be picked up by an authorized parent or guardian.

- Aug. 23 – Immunization Clinic at the Canyons District Office for all families. No cost immunizations available. 1:00-6:00 pm
- Aug. 26 – First Day of School for Preschool (AM and PM)
- Aug. 27 – PTA Welcome Back to School Carnival 4:30-7:30 pm. Lots of fun and food options available
- Unlimited ride only wristbands $10 per child
- Rides and games wristband $12.00 per child
- Concessions (food) are $1-$5.00 per item or 4-20 tickets
- Tickets are 4 for $1.00
- Aug. 30 – All students will receive a vision screening by our district nurse team. Parents will receive notice if their student has any vision issues.
- Sept. 2 – Labor Day. No school
- Sept. 3 – Utah Food Bank provides FREE GROCERIES at EME (2:45 pm)
PLEASE NOTE:
- BUS NUMBERS – To make bus dismissal easier East Midvale assigns colors to each bus number. Each student riding a bus will get a bus tag attached to their backpack with their bus’ color. If you need to know bus information for your student, please check your Family Skyward Access (where you registered) under transportation, check at the information tent at front of school on the first day or call the front office.
- BREAKFAST and LUNCH AT OUR SCHOOL is at NO COST for all students. Students can get breakfast upon arrival at school each morning. Students may bring a home lunch or choose a lunch option during their classroom morning routine. Starting this year, all students have Meal Cards to scan when they go through the breakfast line and the lunch line. Breakfast meal cards will be given to students by their teacher and attached to their backpack.
- MENUS FOR SCHOOL MEALS: CSD uses Nutrislice as its nutrition application. Click here for menus. You can set preferred language in top right corner of page.
- PARENT SQUARE – Please download the app on your phone. If you cannot download the app, use the web based version at www.parentsquare.com. If you already have an account but forgot your password over the summer, just open the app and click “Forgot Password” to reset. If registering for the first time, look for an email invitation in the morning after registration. Click the link, set a password and you can start using the platform! You need to be registered to use all the functions like viewing attachments to posts.
