EME Parent Update 4.19.20

To our East Midvale community:

The soft closure of our schools have been extended through the end of the 2019-20 school year.  Online learning will continue through May 29.   Please watch video (right) to see what Mr. Nelson & Mrs. Bodell want to share with our community!

Congratulations to the 2019-20 Teacher of the year Mr. Alex Torr, 3rd grade teacher extraordinaire  (See video in post below). 

May 1 – save the date!  Although the Fun Run has been postponed until the Fall of 2020, East Midvale teachers want to keep the fun by having a teacher parade.  More details to come!

HEALTH TIPS IN 16 LANGUAGES: What is social distancing? How do I know if I have COVID-19? The state has created a web portal where you can obtain answers to these health-related questions, and more, in 16 different languages:

BE ‘PARK SMART’: Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation has launched a “Park Smart – Stay Apart” campaign to remind patrons that playgrounds are closed and encourage social distancing at parks, trails and other public spaces, such as, school fields and tracks. Board of Education Selects Dr. Rick Robins as New Superintendent

The Canyons Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Rick L. Robins as the next superintendent of the Canyons District.

During a special meeting held Tuesday, April 14, 2020, the seven-member Board of Education unanimously voted to approve the selection of Dr. Robins, a veteran educator and administrator, as the new chief executive of the 34,000-student district.

Dr. Robins’ appointment, effective July 1, 2020, comes after a two-month national search. Robins, currently the Superintendent of the Juab School District, will succeed Dr. Jim Briscoe, who retires June 30 after a 38-year career as an educator and administrator in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Utah. Dr. Briscoe announced his retirement plans on Jan. 14.
