Meeting Notes

5:35 Victoria called meeting to order.

5:36 Victoria motioned to approve minutes.  Motion seconded and minutes approved

5:37 Review budget. Land trust review. Budgets are looking great, nothing really shifted. One interventionist going on maternity, may change some things. Title money budget, hired two (maybe 3) to help with K and 1 grade interventions. Discussed interventionists and their expectations. They help with fine motor skills, progress monitoring, etc.

5:43 DWSBAs numbers will be gone over next meeting to see where we land for the first round

5:44 School accountability report just released. We are on CSI status for MultiLingual students. So we have hired a certified teacher and ML specialist. Ms. Reed is doing targeted interventions for our MLs. Looked at last years report card: We do RISE, WIDA, and early literacy. Looked at indicators. Students must be EME students for 160+ days. Achievement developing, commendable on growth, typical on English learner progress. Early literacy at 35% making typical or better progress at 49%. Points weighted to overall score. We didn’t go down any, we went up 2 points in EL learners. Identified in 2025, based on previous 3 years. Achievement points 48 Identified at 33.87% we need to be at 43.15% we are at 40.11%. Will be shared with staff on Monday

5:55 Attendance. We are tracking how many days we have had 90% of students, or more. We are at 24 days. We are averaging 88% attendance. Fridays and Mondays are our problem days, where we are not hitting 90%. Valerie Payne is our attendance  representative.Solid data will be available at end of term next week. Weekly parent newsletter includes attendance tracking and tips.  Member suggested having a real person call students on days they are absent, (a teacher or some member of staff). Amy will bring this up to our BLT. Our two classes who won the attendance race both do home visits. EME is focusing on home visits and making our students aware that we want them here. Teachers receive a stipend when doing a home visit because Amy has put some $$ aside for it. Possible partnership with a teacher who has done it more. Want to put together a cultural expectation paper for some of our different families. Another incentive is different responsibilities on the students, like Jr. Coach, safety patrol, STEAM squad etc. We have an attendance committee this year. Possible Makerspace options.

6:07 Digital citizenship, this is the week! We are doing daily announcements, lining it up with our SOAR week. Teachers running Thrive Time lessons on digital responsibility

6:08 Safe Walking Routes: Next year’s plan is due in November. Last year there was a discussion on 500 E and Larkwood, they actually put stripes there and followed through. Looking at extending school safety  zone to the length of the school. Infrastructure, no concerns at this time. Our plan for this year: walking route doesn’t change, most of our students are bused.

  • Can we add stripes to the north crosswalk because we use it as one, but it is not marked.
  • what about a stop sign on 6815 S. on 300 E. to slow down traffic before the school zone.
  • speed limit indicator sign has not been working all year.
  • Possible speed limit indicator sign southbound on 300 E. as well. Neighborhoods nearby have grown a lot, concerns over growth in traffic.
  • North Entrance to the school parking lot has  a large dip that often causes cars to bottom out. Requires drivers to enter at an angle, makes drop off and pick up more difficult.
  • Could we get some official permanentl signs that say “please pull forward” maybe some lines to indicate where to pull forward too. Maybe crosswalk actual signs with flashing lights. Maybe have the curbs painted red along front of school and across the street on 300 east.

6:35 Shelley can come to next meeting to discuss community partnerships and the community school.  Ran out of time for this meeting. She will also send out an email about what we are going to discuss

6:37 October safety drill report. Was a secure drill, went well. We got new door locks on classrooms, master keys. They have visual indicators saying locked or unlocked.

6:38 Victoria motioned to adjourn, everyone in favor.
