What a week!

Family Appreciation Night on Tuesday was a big celebration of work done together to support student learning and growth.  Thank you families for showing up!  Our kick off theme for the summer and into the new school year is “How to”!  There were books to start summer reading.  How to Get Your Teacher Ready and How to Back an Apple Pie by Jean Reagan were both quite popular!  Copperview Recreation Center made sure all the families knew about free summer programs for kids.  Tyler Library helped kids sign up for library cards.  Teachers and staff taught fun card games that help retain and build math skills.  There was a grocery store set up to practice the ideas of making a list and having a word search (literacy) and comparing and contrasting and estimating costs (math).

The PTA sponsored a BOGO Bonus Scholastic Book Fair which offered another opportunity to bring home some books to read over the summer.

Our dinner team served up a great meal that  families enjoyed in our newly named Graham’s Garden!

On Thursday our fifth graders started the day with the awards program and ended the day partying with ice cream sandwiches, bingo games, a photo booth and signing signature books to remember all their classmates and teachers.  Congratulations to these rising 6th graders!  They got this because they SOARed at East Midvale.

Friday the whole school gathered for the final SOAR assembly.  Awards were given for leadership group Student Council, Safety Patrol, Junior Coaches, Service awards and Soaring Eagle awards.

Congratulations to students who earned student of the year in each class for showing exceptional self management, ownership, acceptance and resilience.  Congratulations to our Soaring Scholars of the Year from each class for their efforts and growth!
