S.O.A.R. Week recap

Monday kicked off S.O.A.R week with PTA’s Red Ribbon DAY “Be a Hero!  Choose to be drug-free!”  Students were encouraged to make a difference and inspire others by showing SELF MANAGEMENT and choosing to be drug free.  The day ended with a special assembly by the Bubble Man.

Tuesday’s focus was OWNERSHIP and students submitted art projects for the PTA Reflections with the theme What My Culture Means to Me.  Student photographers from SLCC  also came to take portraits of students currently at EME to update our Portrait wall.

Unity Day on Wednesday focused on ACCEPTANCE – being kind, being inclusive and standing up to bullying.  The Unity Chain was built and hangs now in our hall as a reminder.

Thursday’s focus on RESILIENCE saw students signing their names on a banner at lunch knowing “We can do hard things!”  The recess obstacle course planned for the day was rescheduled due to weather but it will be just as fun next week!

Friday was the end of the first term and the S.O.A.R. week finale!  At morning recess each grade lined up on letter and watched a drone fly above them taking photos and videos that were compiled to spell WE SOAR!  Thanks to CSD media for sending Mr. Wildes to man the drone.

Spooky Dojo store was all week and each day students climbed through a tunnel avoiding spider webs and jack-o-lanterns into the dark dojo den to spend their dojo points!

And finally Digital Citizenship Week affirmed each day the tenets – be inclusive, be balanced, be engaged, be informed and be alert!  In elementary school, students receive regular, age-appropriate lessons through the District’s Thrive Time curriculum.
