Parent Update Week of Oct. 28-Nov. 1, 2024

HALLOWEEN AT EAST MIDVALE ON OCTOBER 31

  • Students may wear costumes to school Thursday under school guidelines. No masks or face paint that hides the students identity, no weapons or facsimiles of weapons, no blood or gore.
  • The Halloween parade will start at 9:00 am.  Please enter through the front doors of school and exit through the north gym door.  All adults are asked to stay in the gym and cafeteria area for the parade.  Any adults going to classrooms need to have a volunteer badge from the front office.
  • Classroom parties will also take place on Thursday October 31.  If you would like to volunteer please register as a volunteer for 2024-25 and contact the teacher.  All food items donated to parties need to be store-bought.
  • Our annual flu shot clinic will be on Thursday October 31 from 8:00-11:00 am in the cafeteria.  No cost flu shots for the whole family available.  Thank you to CNS (Community Nursing Services).
  • Last chance to retrieve lost items.  Lost and Found will be set out on the stage in the gym during the Halloween parade.  Please look before or after the parade for misplaced items.  All unretrieved items will be cleared out and donated on November 1.

SCHOOL WIDE PAJAMA DAY on Friday November 1.  We all recognize that Friday will be a great day to roll out of bed and come to school in pajamas (or comfy clothes)!

ADULT VISITORS TO EAST MIDVALE:  All parents and adults who want to enter the school building need to do so through the front office and get a visitor badge.  This includes parents dropping their students off in the morning for breakfast.   This policy ensures student and staff safety.

HONORING and REMEMBERING VETERANS in our EME Community?  As we prepare for our upcoming Veterans Day assembly on November 8th, 2024 we would like to honor the service and sacrifices of veterans from our school community by inviting you to share photographs of family members who have served in the military.  Please send in photos of veterans in your family, along with their name and branch of service. These images will be used in a slideshow during our assembly, and we aim to celebrate their contributions to our country. Student Check Out at day’s end
:  Parents and guardians are asked to check students out of school for appointments before 2:30 pm Mon-Thurs and before 12:40 pm on Friday.  There are many things happening at the end of the school day and the front office is unable to call your student for checkout after those times.

Parent Student Communications during the school day:  If you need to get in touch with your student or they need to get in touch with you, please call the front office.  Office staff will get your student a message.  The student will be directed to call you from the front office as well.  Cell phones/watches should be in school mode during school hours.

Responsible Pet Policy – Unfortunately for many of our students, the neighborhood pet owners are not picking up after their pets and students are stepping in piles of dog poop.  It makes for a very bad day for students and for the clean up crew.  We respectfully ask our community to pick up after their dogs and communicate that to their neighbors.

Free WIFI and INTERNET – Canyons District continues to provide free internet for families through Comcast Internet Essentials.  To enroll, reply to this post or call Mrs. McCall at East Midvale at 801 826 8406.  Ask for a Comcast Code.  Then call Comcast at 1-844-963 0178 with the code.
