POSITIVE PARENTING CLASS – Join the first class “the Foundation of Positive Parenting” on Monday January 29 from 12-12:45 pm in our Family Learning Center portable. Valerie Payne, our school social worker, begins this series of classes for parents with our school nurse, community school facilitator and district Children’s Insurance Program coordinator. Information provided and questions answered on basic needs, resources the school has, and positive parenting tips.
LIVING TRADITIONS 2024: It’s this week and it is all things Africa! Amazing displays are evolving in the grade level hallways. The Art Walk is ready. Coach Shimi will be teaching a game called Ampe and Ngoma A’frica will be teaching Gamboot/Step dances in gym. Ms. Erickson in the library will begin reading a series of books in February about characters living in Africa. Families are invited to our Living Traditions Family Night this Thursday February 1 to “travel” to each of these countries. Sample food from Taste of Culture (Africa) and be entertained by dancers with the African Culture Center.
5th GRADE SCIENCE FAIR – Our fifth graders worked diligently on science projects and what they learned is displayed for our community in the cafeteria during Living Traditions Night.

PRESCHOOL APPLICATIONS for 24-25 at EAST MIDVALE ELEMENTARY OPENS IN MARCH – Families can apply for East Midvale’s Title I preschool in March if their child will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2024 and live within our school boundaries. Parents provide transportation for preschool students in both morning and afternoon sessions.
