WHAT IS NEW THIS NEW SCHOOL YEAR AT EAST MIDVALE ELEMENTARY?
School Logos – In celebration of 60 years in the community, the East Midvale Eagles logo has had a “glow up”. The reveal was at Back to School Night. Look for them on the new window coverings, on banners and on the marquee.
Royal Blue EME Eagle t-shirts! All students received a new SOAR t-shirt. Encourage your student to wear this to the monthly SOAR assemblies and anytime in between to show school spirit! If your child did not receive a t-shirt, please contact the teacher.

Zoned Recess – Last year’s recess structures are continuing this year due to great success. Students will learn or be reminded of routines and expectations during the first weeks of school and then each student will be able to choose what activity they would like to play. This structure has brought a safer, more predictable and better supervised experience for all our students.
Device Policy: Utah has implemented a new law, SB 178, that prohibits students from using cell phones, smartwatches, or other emerging technologies during classroom hours in public schools, according to the Utah Legislature (.gov). This law aims to reduce distractions and improve focus in the classroom, with individual districts having the flexibility to create more or less restrictive policies. In accordance with this law, the East Midvale Elementary will abide by the following device policy as stated on our website HERE.
If a student is having difficulty following this policy, the teacher or administrator will take the personal electronic device to the office for safekeeping. For the first two offenses, a student can pick up the device from the office at the end of the day. After the third offense, a parent/guardian will be contacted and the phone/smartwatch will be in the office for the parent/guardian to pick up.
Please note: All personal electronic devices are brought to school at the students own risk. Neither the school nor district is liable for loss or damage.
If you have any questions, please contact Principal Sandgren.
