Parent Update Week of April 28-May 2, 2025

LOST AND FOUND IS OVERFLOWING!  Please encourage your child to check lost and found if they are missing any jackets, sweatshirts, etc.  All items in lost and found will be donated on Friday May 2.

THANK YOU FOR CONTRIBUTING TO THE PTA COIN DRIVE:  Our school community collected over $2,000.00 to support teachers, students and classrooms.   This school year has offered so many opportunities to support PTA and our community has risen to each occasion and we want to say a huge thank you!!

THE DENTIST IS HERE!  On Monday and Tuesday this week, Big Smiles will have their dental clinic at East Midvale.  Students who were seen in the fall and are eligible for the six month follow up will be seen along with students whose parents sent permission forms in this spring.  Care includes an exam, x-rays, cleaning and restorative care if necessary.

TUESDAY FRESH PRODUCE MARKET!  A bag of fresh produce is available to families at no cost.  Distribution to parents will start at 2:30 pm in front of the school.  Limited quantities and first come first served.  Please be prepared to tell us how many children and how many adults are in your household.

RISE TESTING IS HAPPENING NOW!  Students have begun year end assessments to show all the great things that they have learned this school year.  Third through fifth grades begin RISE testing this week.  Students will be encouraged to “Do their best on every test!”  Parents – please help your student prepare and be ready to do their best with these tips:

  • Encourage a good night’s sleep before a test and have them eat properly the day of a test.

  • Make the morning of the test as relaxed and pleasant as possible.

  • Strive for great attendance over the next month with on time arrival at school.  Children generally perform better when taking tests in their groups rather than at a make-up time.

  • Wish your child good luck each morning of the test. Tell your child that you believe in him/her!

TEACHER APPRECIATION IS COMING!  Between May 5 and May 9, students and families can send appreciations to teachers.  Look for a Parent Square communication this week that will highlight favorite things of your child’s teacher.

Children of working families may be eligible if they do not have other health insurance and cannot qualify for Medicaid or the traditional CHIP program due to citizenship..  Applications will be accepted until the program reaches capacity.   Details are on the Utah CHIP website.  If you have questions, contact Ms. McCall or reply to this post.

DRESS CODE REMINDER:  As the weather warms, please remind students to wear clothing that follows our district dress code.  Students wearing clothing that distracts others from the learning environment will be asked to change.  Follow this link for CSD Dress Code
