Parent Update Week March 11-15, 2024

DAYLIGHT SAVING BEGAN TODAY.  Did you move your clock up by 1 hour?

SPIRIT NIGHT at McDONALDs Midvale – Spirit Night at McDonald’s Midvale is Tuesday March 12 from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Order through the app and EME receives 30% of the proceeds or go inside restaurant to donate cash.  If you buy cookies, EME gets 100% of the proceeds.  Remember to tell the cashier you are from East Midvale Elementary.  See attached flyer.

ALL PRO DADS – Join Mr. Wilhite on Wednesday March 13 at 7:45 am in the gym to talk about COURAGE with your students.  There will be a fun activity and video and breakfast will be provided.   RSVP on  Parent Square Post

SPRING PICTURES by Bell Photo will be taken on Monday March 18.  Individual and class photos will be taken.  You can send your student to school with a payment envelope or do the order online at www.bellphoto.com Webcode:  eastmidvalespr24.  Bell Photo has offered EME some scholarships for pictures for families that would like photos but cannot afford the cost.  Please reply to this post or contact Ms. McCall if you are interested.  Limited supply.

MOBILE VISION and MEDICAL CLINICS at East Midvale on Tuesday March 19.   Nurse Clegg will vision screen any new students and students struggling to see in the classroom.  Permission forms will be sent home for students to be seen at the vision clinic.  If you have a concern about vision, please contact Nurse Clegg.  For Medical clinic, please call 801-998-2410 for appointment.

  • Mon. March 25 – No school for students
  • March 29 – CSD Vaccine Clinic 1:30-6:00 pm at District Offices
  • April 1-5 is Spring Break – no school.
  • Fri April 18 – Career Day (parent/community member presenters needed)
  • April 22-26 – Coin Drive Fundraiser for PTA – start saving coins 

STUDENT HEALTH TIP of the WEEK from Nurse Amy – Getting enough exercise improves academics, sleep, mental health and overall physical health. One hour or more of moderate to vigorous exercise per day is recommended. Encourage your kids to get outside and play!.

Childhood is a great time to start a positive body image. Here are a few tips!

  1. No forbidden foods – all foods can fit within a healthy diet. Just encourage mindful eating.
  2. Don’t give food as a reward or withhold it as punishment.
  3. Don’t make judgmental comments about body shapes and sizes.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR FULL DAY KINDERGARTEN AND HALF DAY PRESCHOOL for 2024-25 at EAST MIDVALE ELEMENTARY  

  • Follow this link for Kindergarten Registration using a Parent Square post or visit our front office for paper registration forms.  Your child needs to be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024.
  • Follow this link for Preschool application.  Families can apply for East Midvale’s Title I preschool if the child will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2024 and the family lives within our school boundaries.  Parents provide transportation for preschool students in both morning and afternoon sessions  Questions can be directed to Ms. Jeanene Moore, our preschool teacher at jeanene.moore@canyonsdistrict.org

FREE WIFI INTERNET – Canyons District continues to provide free internet for families through Comcast Internet Essentials.  To enroll, reply to this post or call Mrs. McCall at East Midvale at 801 826 8406.  Ask for a Comcast Code.  Then call Comcast at 1-844-963 0178 with the code.
