WHAT IS NEW THIS NEW SCHOOL YEAR AT EAST MIDVALE ELEMENTARY?
- Meal Scan cards – All students have meal cards that are scanned for breakfast and lunch. This facilitates an accurate count of meals and allows EME to maintain the Title I funding for free meals at our school.
- Music Brain Booster – Mr. Pratt is our new Arts Brain Booster teacher and he will be singing, moving, playing instruments and teaching the students “about the wonderful world of music!” He is a musician himself who specializes in the trumpet, has taught music, choir and owned a music store with his wife.
- Recess – After the first week of teaching this new recess routine, each student will now be able to choose what activity they would like to play. They can choose between the game of the week, the playground, soccer, or basketball/jump rope. This structure ultimately brings a safer, more predictable and better supervised experience for all our students.
- Gray EME Eagle t-shirts! All students received a new SOAR t-shirt to wear to the schoolwide SOAR assembly on Friday. Encourage your student to wear this to the monthly SOAR assemblies and anytime in between to show school spirit!
MONDAY August 26 – FIRST DAY OF PRESCHOOL- New preschoolers can line up outside the red hall with their parents for the first day. Ms. Jeanene will meet and greet each student at 8:15 am. for morning preschool and 12:20 pm for afternoon.
TUESDAY August 27 – PTA BACK TO SCHOOL CARNIVAL 4:30-7:30 pm – Bring the family to East Midvale’s south playground for fun rides, games and food options. A portion of the proceeds is returned to the PTA to support classrooms.
- Tickets are 4 for $1.00
- Unlimited ride only wristbands $10 per child
- Rides and games wristband $12.00 per child
FRIDAY AUGUST 30 VISION SCREENING All students will receive a vision screening by our district nurse team. Parents will receive notice if their student has any vision issues.
FRIDAY AUGUST 30 FIRE DRILL – Friday will be our first drill of the school year. Every month, the school will do a different drill to practice procedures in case of a real emergency.

PLEASE NOTE:
- FREE GROCERIES from Utah Food Bank – – On the first Tuesday of each month, the Utah Food Bank provides a bag of free groceries to any interested student/family. Distribution is done at the end of the school day in the cafeteria. Students can pick up the bag of food and parents can meet their students outside the north gym doors or at the bus stop to help carry the 20 pounds of food.
- OPERATION SCHOOL BELL – This is a resource through the Assistance League of Salt Lake to provide new school clothing to students in need. Look for a Parent Square sign up in early September. If you have received this resource in the past please allow others to fill the limited capacity.
- FREE WIFI INTERNET – Canyons District continues to provide free internet for families through Comcast Internet Essentials. To enroll, reply to this post or call Mrs. McCall at East Midvale at 801 826 8406. Ask for a Comcast Code. Then call Comcast at 1-844-963 0178 with the code.
- VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES for parents at the school, in the classroom, at school events and on field trips happen all year long. Register at this link so you can help CSD Volunteer Registration. At the beginning of each month, East Midvale will send out a parent volunteer sign up for upcoming activities.
