Award winning author and illustrator Bethany Barton stopped by East Midvale E.S. on her way through the Salt Lake Valley to add something extra special to our Family Appreciation Event. Families attending the event all received a signed copy of one of her children’s books Give Bees a Chance or I’m Trying to Love Spiders. Students are encouraged to read throughout the summer and keep a list of books they read about Bugs, Bees, Butterflies, Spiders and Insects!
Over 80 families attended our first Family Appreciation Event and got a free book to kick off summer reading There were information tables where parents could sign up for SLCO library cards, learned about the CSD online SORA library, visit with community partners Tyler Library, Copperview Recreation Center and get information about CHIP.
Each family also received a deck of cards and were taught fun math card games to keep those addition, subtraction and multiplication skills sharp over the summer! Final stop was the community garden for a dinner from Raising Canes!
East Midvale appreciates all the hard work done over the school year by both students and parents! Let’s keep SOARing together!
Fifth graders had their year end awards and celebration party to follow. Thanks to the PTAs at Sunrise Elementary and East Midvale Elementary each fifth grader received a book that they chose for summer reading! Thanks to AJs Photobooth for the awesome setup and backdrop for fifth graders to snap memories.
