Being on track for success in college and career begins here at East Midvale. This week, we want to help our students visualize what is to come in their educational career and beyond. Each day will focus on a different “Station Stop” along the track to success and how they can stay on it! There will be special guests and fun activities.
Monday: Station Stop: East Midvale Elementary. To stay on track, be at school every day starting in kindergarten. Build a strong routine, learn to read by 3rd grade, develop positive social skills and resilience. Lower grades were all invited to do a “field trip” to fifth grade portables. Kindergarteners loved interacting with Mrs. Bettison’s fifth graders. The fifth graders loved being able to share all the tools and stations they use in their classroom as the big kids. Writing samples from kindergarten were put together with 5th grade writing samples. Being able to see what is ahead and how what they are doing in their class now will help them later is so important. Writing samples from kinder
Tuesday: Station Stop: Midvale Middle School. Principal Courtney Long took time out of his busy morning to greet East Midvale students getting morning breakfast. He visited with students before the bell and answered questions about what middle school looks like.
Cheers of “We are … Midvale!” echoed.
MMS Student Council created a video just for East Midvale and it was shared with students during morning meetings. It talked about what is different in middle school like choosing electives and having a different teacher for each class.
Middle School builds skills in time management, communication and responsibility for self and others.
Wednesday: Station Stop Hillcrest High School. Special guests lined the sidewalk and filled the gym on Wednesday morning to greet students as they come in for breakfast. Assistant Principal Ari Tavo, SBO Secretary Abbi C. and the Hillcrest Cheer Squad hyped up our students and encouraged them to stay on track for graduation, earn credits, explore interests, pursue a particular path of studies, think critically, play sports, and get involved in clubs. Current Huskies made time for future Huskies and we are very grateful!
