IT’S TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK! Across the country, schools are celebrating and recognizing all the efforts put in by classroom teachers. East Midvale teachers are amazing – growth oriented, highly skilled and outrageously caring teaching professionals. We are so fortunate at our school! Please feel free to share your thoughts and appreciations with your child’s teacher this week. The PTA will be providing special gifts throughout the week and a teacher luncheon on Wednesday – these are examples of how funds provided by the Coin Drive are used. Thank you.
RISE TESTING this week – All the upper grades will be doing their year end testing in Math on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Our students have worked hard all year and this is their time to shine and show what they learned!
ALL PRO DADS Wednesday 7:30 am – It is the last meeting of this school year – and the last meeting that our leader Mr. Platner will be running! Don’t miss this one. Aptly enough, the topic is LEADERSHIP. “Being a leader means seeing something that needs to be done and bringing people together to do it. A leader serves, gives directions and inspires others to reach a goal.” This month’s meeting will explore this idea with an inspiring video, fun activity and time to discuss it. Please RSVP.
DOJO POINT REWARD ASSEMBLIES – In the coming weeks, students will be rewarded with fun assemblies and parties for achieving dojo point levels school wide that topped 1 MILLION. These points are given when students are showing positive behaviors in the classrooms and school. There is a masked singer assembly, Mad Science show and black light dance parties! Congratulations Eagles!!
FRESH PRODUCE MARKET is Tuesday at 2:30 pm. Parents can pick up a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables at no cost to our school families. First come first served. Thank you to Rancho Markets for the beautiful produce that we are able to purchase using funding from NBA Cares, First Utah Bank and Zions Bank.
PARENT NUTRITION CLASSES through University of Utah Center for Nutrition Class on Healthy Movement is Friday May 12 from 9-10:00 am in the Family Learning Center. Presenters (with Spanish, Dari and Arabic interpreters) will explore different types of movement and their importance. Final class in series is Friday May 19 (Healthy Homes).
SAVE THE DATE – On Friday May 19 from 2:00-4:00 pm in our library, there will be an open house to honor Ms. Caldwell for all the years she has served at East Midvale and all the students she has nurtured and taught. We welcome parents and former students to come by to wish her well.

SUMMER MEALS – East Midvale Elementary is one of four sites in Canyons District that will provide FREE breakfast and lunch for any child 18 years and under this summer.
