Parent Update Week of April 24-28, 2023

THANK YOU to parents and community members who participated in Career Day.  Students learned about careers from engineers and a financial advisor,  nurses, a nutritionist and a yoga healer, a musician, robotics teacher and ski instructor,  members of the Navy, Army and National Guard, as well as a school bus driver and funeral director and more!  It was a great day at EME!

PTA FUNDRAISER is this week.  Students can bring in coins each day to contribute to their classroom total.  Monday – pennies, Tuesday – nickels, Wednesday – dimes, Thursday – Quarters.  All funds raised go to support teachers and classrooms at East Midvale.  The class raising the most will get to silly string Mr. Nelson at the Fun Run and the 2 runner up classes will get a Dirty Dough cookie party.

FUN RUN is this Friday April 28 starting at 9:00 am with 4th grade!  We invite families to come and cheer on students along the course.  Students will start  in the front parking lot and finish at the Kindergarten playground.  Parent volunteers needed at the various “obstacles” along the course.  Please sign up using the PTA Parent Square post from Friday.  We need at least 12 volunteers!

FRESH PRODUCE MARKET Tuesdays at 2:30 pm.  Parents can pick up a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables at no cost to our school families.  Supplies limited.

BIG SMILES DENTAL CLINIC – May 1 at East Midvale.  Please return permission forms if you would like your child to be seen for preventative dental care.

UPCOMING PARENT NUTRITION CLASSES – University of Utah Center for Nutrition will give a series of 3 parent classes at 9:00 am on Fridays May 5 (Healthy Eating), May 12 (Healthy Movement) and May 18 (Healthy Homes).  This is in conjunction with our fresh produce market.  Foods will be prepared and served.  Great information for you on raising healthy kids and families.
